5 Benefits of Using Infographics for Small Businesses

Infographics are not dead.

Ok, well maybe the style of the ones that were kicking around in 2014 – they don’t seem to have as much virality nowadays.

But I’m not talking about those super long intricate ones.

I’m talking about using what I call mini infographics – and how they’ve helped improve engagement rates on my content (mostly blog posts and social media posts).

Mini infographics are simple bite-sized visuals that deliver information in a simple and easy-to-understand way.

Below are a couple of different examples:

I’ve noticed that my engagement rate is usually better when I share infographics like this on social media and within blog posts.

However, better engagement rates aren’t the only benefit of using infographics – in this post I’ve listed several benefits that infographics can provide your small business.

Let’s explore how infographics can help small businesses’ content marketing efforts by increasing online visibility, simplifying complex information, boosting SEO performance, and more.

1. Infographics Give Clear and Concise Information

The main purpose of infographics is to condense complex information into easily understandable visuals.

You can illustrate things like step-by-step processes, workflows, stats, and concepts that may be challenging to describe using words alone.

See the example below, adapted from the Infographics Canva Templates Kit:

By breaking down these concepts into step-by-step visual sequences, infographics make it easier for your audience to follow along and understand the main points within the information.

Visuals also transcend language barriers and literacy levels, making infographics accessible to a broader audience base.

Plus, the way infographics display both text and images helps them appeal to a variety of different learning styles.

2. Infographics Increase Engagement

Standing out from the crowd is essential for small businesses.

Infographics offer an opportunity to boost brand awareness with visually captivating imagery to showcase your brand’s personality, values, and offers.

According to Search Logistics statistics show that content containing infographics is 30 times more likely to be read and so get higher engagement levels than text-only content.

Whether it’s likes, shares, comments, or click-throughs, infographics consistently outperform other types of content in terms of engagement metrics.

3. Infographics Boost Brand Awareness

Infographics are a great way to showcase your brand’s personality via branded infographics containing useful content for your audience.

Incorporating your brand’s unique style into your infographics creates a cohesive and recognizable brand presence across all your marketing channels.

This helps to reinforce brand recognition and build trust with your audience, ultimately increasing your ideal audience’s awareness of your brand.

4. Infographics Help Drive Content Virality

One of the best things about mini infographics is their shareability on social media. Infographics are inherently eye-catching and share-worthy, making them more likely to be shared by your audience.

With the potential for infographics to go viral, your small business can gain widespread exposure and position your small business as an authority in your industry.

By consistently producing high-quality content like infographics that resonate with their target audience, small businesses can carve out a distinct identity in the marketplace and differentiate themselves from competitors.

5. Infographics Improve SEO Performance

If you use infographics in your blog posts they can give your SEO performance a nice little boost.

High-quality infographics have the potential to significantly increase ‘time on page,’ a vital metric that sends positive signals to search engines about the relevance and value of your website’s content.

By enhancing the quality of your content with visually compelling infographics, you not only capture your audience’s attention but also keep them engaged for longer periods. This contributes to improved SEO performance through improved content quality, better engagement metrics, and visual search optimization – such as featuring in Google image searches.
