Whether you are a designer or not, choosing font pairings for your designs can be tricky and time consuming.
To help you out, I’ve done all the hard work for you and collected together a variety of different typefaces and chosen suitable complimentary fonts to pair with them.
I’ve avoided choosing fonts that are trendy right now because often these fall out of fashion too fast – meaning your designs could look dated in mere months.
Rest assured the fonts I’ve included in this list are elegant, stylish, versatile and timeless, ensuring that your designs will remain visually appealing and relevant for years to come.
The font pairings I’ve selected include serifs, and san serifs in a range of styles to help you choose the right pair for your project.
Teseva One paired with Poppins
Both free for personal and commercial use in Canva, Yeseva One has a wonderfully feminine look and pairs really well with Poppins.
A modern font, I choose Poppins as it beautifully echos the curves of Yeseva One, plus Poppins has a large range of thicknesses ranging from thin all the way to extra bold and black.
Arvo paired with Antic
I paired these two minimalistic fonts together as I think that Antic looks like the sans serif version of Arvo and are a great example of an elegant Canva font combination.
Both free in Canva, they are one of the more versatile options that I’ve included in this list.
Marykate paired with Maely
A pairing that sounds like a kids’ playdate, I think these fun fonts pair together really well. I just love how playful and fun both Marykate and Maely are. Plus they’re both available free in Canva!

Hey Gotcha! paired with Th Sarabun New
If you’re looking for a modern capitalized title font, then this is a fab option. Available for Canva Pro users it can be paired with a number of different fonts to create different looks.
I paired it with Th Sarabun New as it’s another font that can easily be paired with others and I like it’s simple and elegant but modern style.
Blastine paired with Courier Prime
Both free fonts in Canva, I choose Courier Prime to go with Blastine as I think that together they both have a sort or arty vibe to them. Blastine looks like it was written with paint and the typewriter look of Courier Prime gives it a sort of newspaper collage feel.
Walbaum Decorative paired with Hatton
Walbaum Decorative caught my eye and I included it in the list due to its vintage and retro vibe. A serif font available for Canva Pro users, I’ve paired it with Hatton, another typeface with an elegant vintage look to it.
Pier Sans Light paired with Playwrite US Trad
Sometimes a design requires a readable script font to compliment a modern title font. Font pairings like these work well for adding a touch of feminity to a design without losing the modern styling.
I’ve gathered together more script fonts in the cursive Canva fonts blog post.
Calistoga paired with Crelina
Another script font that can be paired with a sans serif title font is this pair. These two however have a fun and younger vibe than the pair above, reminiscent of a high school homework book or teens’ diary cover – this font pair certainly gives off playful vibes.
Carelina paired with TS Damas Slab
Both free fonts available in Canva, Carelina is a bold serif typeface that catches the eye with its striking, bold curves, making it ideal for headlines or statements that need to stand out.
TS Dama Slab’s slim design allows for more text in your layouts without sacrificing readability or style.
Together, they create a sophisticated and versatile duo, perfect for designs that need both impact and room for lots of text.

Barriecito paired with Lazydog
The pairing of Barriecito and Lazydog brings a delightful burst of childlike energy and whimsy to any design. Barriecito’s playful, hand-drawn letterforms capture the fun and creativity of childhood doodles. Lazydog complements this with its soft, rounded edges and playful vibe.
Together, these fonts create a fun, approachable aesthetic that’s ideal for kids’ brands, playful branding, or any design where you want to spark a smile and capture the carefree spirit of youth.
Bernier Shade paired with Halimum
The pairing of Bernier Shade and Halimum, both free in Canva, exudes a charming, vintage bistro vibe that I think is perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere in your designs.
Bernier Shade brings a touch of rustic elegance with its shadowed, all-caps style, reminiscent of classic café signage and hand-painted menu boards.
Halimum, with its clean and elegant script, adds a sophisticated yet approachable touch, making it ideal for accentuating the details in your designs.
Fredoka paired with Monserrat
I choose Fredoka and Montserrat as a font pair as I think they make a modern and playful combination that’s both approachable and versatile.
Fredoka’s rounded letters bring a sense of fun and warmth, making it perfect for adding a touch of personality to your designs. In contrast, Montserrat offers a clean, geometric style that adds structure and sophistication, ensuring your text is both legible and stylish.
Together, these fonts strike a balance between casual charm and contemporary elegance, making them ideal for everything from branding and social media graphics to playful yet professional presentations.
